Sebastopol, CA at a Glance
The trendy town of Sebastopol originated as a booming center for the apple industry
during the early 1900s. Today the town is recognized for its country landscape
of apple orchards, wineries, fields and forests. Festivals, outdoor activities
and antique shops make Sebastopol a popular tourist destination. Visitors are
drawn to the Apple
Blossom Festival every April, which celebrates Sebastopol’s role in apple
production while featuring a parade, live music and wine tasting. Every September
the streets are filled with the sound of music during the four-day Celtic
Music Festival. Events include live music, workshops and a vendor village.
The West
County Museum educates visitors on the history of the area with exhibits ranging
from apples to the Pomo and Miwok American Indian tribes. Outdoor enthusiasts
appreciate the Laguna
Wetlands Preserve, which is located within the town. The large, freshwater
marsh offers excellent bird watching, hiking and picnicking opportunities.
